Families of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) in Wolverhampton are invited to help shape a new parent carer forum. This initiative follows the closure of Voice4Parents, which supported SEND families for over a decade.

Parent carer forums are led by parents and carers and play a crucial role in representing family voices in strategic discussions with the SEND Local Area Partnership. This includes the City of Wolverhampton Council, NHS trusts, schools, and local community groups. These forums also provide a space for families to share experiences and access vital information.

It is important a strong forum is established to ensure families’ voices are heard and to help improve services for children and young people with SEND.

The charity Contact is leading the development of the new forum and is inviting parents and carers of children or young people aged 0–25 with SEND to attend one of three virtual information sessions:

  • Wednesday 4 June, 10:00–11:30am
  • Monday 9 June, 12:30–2:00pm
  • Wednesday 11 June, 6:00–7:30pm
