Home adaptations advice and assessment can be sought from City of Wolverhampton Council Independent Living Service which is a part of Social Care service.
Based on the assessment, we can recommend assistive devices or equipment that can enhance independence. This could include items like mobility aids (sticks, walkers), toileting equipment and bathing equipment.
Home Modifications: If necessary, we can suggest home modifications to make your living environment more accessible and safe. This may involve installing ramps, grab bars, widening doorways, or making changes to the layout of your home.
For more complex problems, major adaptations, e.g. a stair lift or level access shower, may be recommended. In this case following assessment by the Occupational Therapist you will be referred to the Home Improvement Agency at Wolverhampton Homes and may be considered for a Disabled Facilities Grant (subject to means test) if you are a homeowner, or a private tenant. Different financial arrangements apply for tenants of Wolverhampton Homes.
These are some of the areas which can be considered:
- access to the home and garden
- making the premises safer
- access to a principal family room or bedroom
- access to a toilet
- access to bathing facilities
