Support Available While You Wait for an Appointment
While you're waiting for a health appointment or assessment, there are local support services available for you and your child. Many of these services can continue to offer help even after your appointment.
Why Waiting Times May Be Longer
Wolverhampton health services are currently experiencing a high volume of referrals, which means some children and young people are waiting longer than usual for their first appointment. The system is working hard to improve these waiting times.
If Your Child’s Needs Change
If your child’s needs change while you're waiting:
- Contact the team you're waiting to see, or the person who made the referral.
- You can also speak to your GP or call NHS 111 for advice.
- If symptoms are life-threatening, go to your nearest A&E or call 999 immediately.
Resources and Support
There are a range of resources and services available to support you. Each service may have its own criteria, so please check their websites for details.
Additionally, health services in Wolverhampton have created a guidance document outlining support available without needing a referral to specialist services.
